Dedicated to the preservation, restoration and enjoyment of 1955, 1956 & 1957 Chevrolet Cars, Nomads, Wagons, Trucks and Corvettes.

What We Do

We are a non-profit, family-oriented organization that enjoys picnics, car shows, dinner cruises and touring automotive related manufacturers/museums/private collections.  We drive our cars to most events, some being over 1000 miles away.  Shows such as Goodguys, Americruise and The Hot Rod Power Tour are some of the annual events that some members look forward to every year.  We sponsor an annual April Fools swap meet, usually the first sunday in April, that for the past ten years has been held at the Monroe County Fairgrounds in Waterloo, IL.  This event has been a tremendous success in the Southern Illinois metro St. Louis area.   As a result, we are able to make annual charitable contributions to national/local charities voted on by the membership every year.

Over the past 21 years, Okaw Valley Classics has donated $29,000 total to various charities.

Okaw Valley Classic Chevy Club

(How it began)

In the fall of 1981 Rich K purchased a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop.  As it pretty much needed a total restoration Rich set out to find parts.  Answering an ad in the newspaper he met Randy D in Fairview Heights.  They met and talked several times and the idea came up of starting a Classic Chevy Club.  Randy knew several people who had classics or at least an interest in them.  After making a few phone calls they set up a meeting at Pizza Hut in Fairview Heights

Present at that first meeting which was in early 1982 were: Jack and Darlene H, Gary S, Rich K, Rick D, Randy D and Tom D.

At first it seemed like there were not many Classics around, but they continued to hold monthly meetings and at each meeting there were new faces and new members.

The Club has since grown to over 50 member families.  Okaw Valley Classic Chevy Club is a very family oriented club and we enjoy many activities during the year.
